GCSE Mathematics at Westbourne

All pupils follow the AQA specification A in Mathematics. This is a traditional “linear” course, with no coursework element. Work towards GCSE starts in Year 9 and continues through Year 10 and Year 11.
 
Assessment: 
Pupils are entered for one of two tiers of paper, for which the following grades are available. The tier of entry is based on ability and is decided by the teacher.

Foundation Tier                    Grades G to C

Higher Tier                           Grades D to A*
 
The final examination consists of two papers covering the whole syllabus: one non-calculator paper and one with calculators allowed.
