Homework

We like to keep homework in its proper place at Westbourne and we think we have the balance just about right.

The amount and the content of homework our girls and boys have is always age appropriate and takes account of where they are in their learning and what they are finding challenging.

The work brought home each week is another effective way of keeping our parents informed of what is currently happening in the classroom and demonstrates the skills and knowledge that are being developed, reinforced or extended at that particular time in the school term.

Homework diary – Years 5 and 6 – Do check this and use it for any message to the form tutor.  Form tutors will usually check this weekly on Friday.

Homework is seen not only as an important preparation, reinforcement or extension of learning done in school, but also as a means of informing parents of current curriculum work and also developing independent learning.

Senior School

Homework  is  part of our commitment to the children's continuous improvement and high standards. It is an extension of the communication and partnership we have with our parents, keeping them informed of our current work in school and how their child is addressing it. The policy has been developed to give our children a further personal and individual responsibility for their own progress. It lays the foundations for good practice and accountability and can help us to develop assessment for learning.
