Eco School

Spring 2009 saw Westbourne embark upon the Eco-Schools programme which aims to make tackling sustainable issues manageable and exciting for all schools.

The school will follow a seven-step process to address a variety of environmental themes, ranging from litter and waste to healthy living and biodiversity.

Westbourne pupils will be the driving force behind Eco-Schools representing their peers on the eco-committee and helping to carry out an audit to assess the environmental performance of their school.

Westbourne’s experienced and enthusiastic eco-committee will work towards gaining the Bronze, Silver and the celebrated Green Flag awards, which symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity.  So far we have enlisted a local policeman, Caretakers, Kitchen staff, a Cleaner, Parents, Governors and local business people to work with the pupils and enhance our reputation in the local community and beyond.
