Drama GCSE
Calling all those who love to be in the limelight…and all those who simply enjoy working creatively in a team…
• Enjoy discussing ideas and moving away from a desk?
• Enjoy creating something fun and worthwhile in a group?
• Enjoy the thrill of standing in front of an audience?
• Enjoy going to the theatre?
The Drama GCSE course is beckoning you…
60% of the GCSE is practical Controlled Assessment. You work together in groups of 2 or more to produce several short pieces. The choice of options enables you to experience scripted, unscripted and design work. Your group chooses what the piece is about and how it should be performed or presented. You also decide who you’d like the audience to be….! Your two best pieces make up your Controlled Assessment mark.
40% of the GCSE is a 1½ hour written paper at the end of Year 10 or Year 11. There are three simple sections. The first is a question on the practical work that you’ve completed during the course. The second asks you to evaluate your work. The third is based on a live performance that you’ve watched at a regional theatre. You only have to answer two of the three sections!
