Pupils' Christmas Shoebox Appeal
Each November Junior School pupils send a Christmas wish and a message of hope to some
of the poorest children across the world by taking part in Operation Christmas
Child and filling shoeboxes with a variety of gifts. The children filled boxes with pencils,
books, sweets, toys, toothbrushes and hats and scarves, as some of the boxes go to extremely
cold countries.
The national appeal, part of Samaritan's Purse, is to send a message of hope to children
in needy situations across the globe. Last year Operation Christmas Child collected over
1 million shoeboxes in the U.K. and 5 million worldwide, distributing them to children in
95 countries.
