Dear Mr Hicks
Congratulations! As secretary of Sheffield Schools' Football Association I thought you would be delighted to know that Joshua Heald a pupil in your Year 10 cohort, is a member of the victorious Sheffield Schools Football U15 squad.
The team has just completed a highly successful season remaining unbeaten in every game they played in the Yorkshire League thus finishing as Champions and culminating in their 3 – 1 victory over Hambleton and Richmond Schools in the final of the Yorkshire Cup.
Your school can be extremely proud of Joshua who as a member of the U15 team showed an unselfish attitude towards the team always giving 100% and more in every game he played. Like all players of the Sheffield U15 Squad Joshua conducted himself in an exemplary manner as he represented the city of Sheffield both on and off the field reflecting how sport can help build the character of young people.
Once again congratulations and I hope further success can come through your school’s links with Sheffield Schools' Football Association.
Yours sincerely
John Allen
Secretary Sheffield Schools' Football Association

Swimming
My brother and I were in the North Eastern Region Championships on the 5th and 6th of November at Harrogate. I was also swimming on the 26th and 27th at Leeds swimming pool at the North Eastern Youth Region Championships. I was swimming with 15-19 year olds and in one of my heats I was racing Olympic Champion Joanne Jackson. Joe received three bronze and one silver nedal and I received one gold, two silver and two bronze in our first gala.
In the second gala I didn’t win anything but everyone in my squad didn’t win anything either. I think that everyone who took part in the swiming gala tried really hard and did great. To the people that won medals - you did fabulous and keep it up! To the people that didn’t win any medals - better luck next time and win some medals!

Diving
My name is Sam and I dive for the City of Sheffield. Since September I have done three competitions; Southampton, North Eastern Counties and English Schools. In Southampton I got two medals, third on 3 metre and second off the 5 metre and 7.5 metre highboard. In the North Eastern Counties competition I got medals for third in the 1 metre, first in the 3 metre and the 5 metre, third in the synchronised 1 metre, fourth in the synchronised 3 metre and first in the synchronised 5 metre. For the English Schools competition I went with some friends from Sheffield and Leeds. We all worked towards a cup and then we won it.
