Sporting Successes Newsletter
We are delighted to share with you the ‘Sporting Successes Newsletter’ which has been produced entirely by James Billingham in Year 7. James is continuing to work incredibly hard on this project and we would like to thank him for his time and commitment.
Sport plays a large part in Westbourne life. PE is taught from Pre-School right through to GCSE level at Year 10/11. The school has a wide ranging and substantial fixture list from Year 3 upwards and expert coaching is provided for all pupils, irrespective of their perceived sporting ability. We access the best facilities in the city for all students and all pupils are encouraged to live an active lifestyle which we hope will follow them into adulthood.
This is the underlying philosophy for sporting opportunities at Westbourne.
Sport for all:
All pupils are encouraged to meet their potential through a variety of sports. We offer every pupil the chance to represent school teams at A, B and C levels.
Westbourne recognises pupils' team efforts and also individual achievements not just with rewards in school but opportunities to pursue trials at County and National level in various sports.
Sports trips are provided for Senior and also Junior School pupils. Students will represent their house (Mercer, Holmes, Johnson or Whitfield) in house sporting events including hockey, football, rounders, rugby, cricket, athletics, swimming and the annual Westbourne Wheeze race! Parents have the opportunity to come and support these events as well as normal games fixtures.
