Second in Sheffield!

U13s Girls Cricket Tournament

On Tuesday 9th january our U-13 Girls team played against and beat King Ecgberts and Parkwood in their league matches to reach the final. They then played a strong Ecclesfield team, just losing out to finish as Sheffield School’s Runners-up. This constitutes a wonderful achievement since the girls have had no opportunity to have practice sessions before the tournament, and they were competing against much larger state schools who have many more girls to choose their teams from (Ecclesfield have around 400 girls in Y7 and Y8).

Cristina and Rosie were awesome as wicket keepers through the tournament, whilst Evie, Lulu and Trixie scored over 25 runs and therefore had to retire when they batted. Erin, Grace, Jessica and Esme all bowled and fielded well as well as scoring runs when they batted. The girls were quick to learn the intricacies of the indoor rules and amended their play accordingly. It was truly a fabulous team effort, expertly captained by Lulu.

The team were:

  • Lulu Morrison-Parry (Captain)
  • Trixie Morrison-Parry
  • Rosie Molyneux
  • Evie Reynolds
  • Erin Davies
  • Cristina Bayona
  • Grace Brown
  • Jessica Rodgers
  • Esme Naylor

Congratulations girls! you have set the standard for the rest of the forth-coming cricket season.

Boys Indoor Cricket Sheffield Schools tournament

On Wednesday 17th January our U-13 Boys team played in the ‘South Sheffield’ league of the SFSS Indoor Cricket Competition where they beat Silverdale and All Saints but lost out to a King Ecgberts team containing 5 (out of their 8) players who represent Yorkshire at their age-group. This was a fabulous effort by the boys who once again locked horns with state schools who could select from a bank of around 150-200 boys.

All the boys contributed with the bat and learned through the tournament. There was some excellent bowling and fielding, and the attitude of the team was brilliant, especially when the games were tight.

The team:

  • Ellis Green (Captain)
  • Tom Blades
  • Alex Read
  • Tom Wroth
  • Hugh Heath
  • Harry Peckett
  • Fred Foster-Major
  • Archie Renshaw

Congratulations boys on an impressive start to the cricket season.
