Friends of Westbourne is made up of around 25 parents, usually one or two from each year group, who volunteer to join the committee and become class reps. The class reps are a valuable source of support and information for new parents to help them to really feel part of the school.
Westbourne is a very close knit school with a great sense of family and Friends of Westbourne work hard to help maintain this feeling.
Our main aim is to provide fun social events for both pupils and parents. These include parents' nights out to local restaurants, an annual Summer Party for all the family, wine tasting eve, the Christmas Fayre, Mother's Day Sale as well as other events throughout the year.
Anyone can volunteer to join the committee and if you have recently joined the school it's a great way to get to know people. To become a class rep adds some additional responsibilities which can be reviewed here
The workload is not onerous, we have one meeting a term and we usually organize one large scale and one smaller scale event each term. We would love to have more members, we are a friendly bunch and it's a lot of fun to be involved.
Our aim is to organise school social events for both parents and pupils, funds raised by FOW contribute to non-essential items for pupils across the school. For example FOW has bought a Grand Piano, a table tennis table, Hockey Shirts for the Senior School girls and a 'Go-Pro' camera for use by the whole school.
This year we are hoping to install shelterin the Junior School that can be used by parents at pick-up and drop off and also can be utilised by the pupils as an outdoor classroom.
The committee is led by, Chair David Bashforth and Vice Chair Charlie Hawley. Senior School FoW is led by Mrs Sarah Vohra and Mr Ian Davey. If you are a new parent wanting more information on school life or would like to become involved with FoW please don't hesitate to contact us. We'd love to hear from you.
